Norvel Dale Byrd, beloved husband, brother, and friend, was born on October 29, 1973, and passed away on January 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. Dale’s unwavering faith and kindness endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He served honorably in the United States Army as a Private 2 (PV2), a testament to his commitment to service and dedication to his country. Dale's proudest accomplishments included his military service and his role as a deacon at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church, where he faithfully supported his brotherhood and church.
Dale had a love for life that was reflected in his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, activities that brought him joy and provided cherished moments with loved ones. As an avid fan of Alabama football and the New York Jets, Dale's enthusiasm for sports was contagious, and he found ways to share this passion with those around him.
Dale was a shining example of what a husband should be and a true reflection of what it means to live as a Christian. He was someone we should all strive to learn from. Throughout his life on earth, no matter the struggles he faced, Dale never complained. He lived with honesty, humility, and quiet strength, and he never wavered in his walk with the Lord. His faith, character, and love for others will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Byrd; his siblings, James Marlin Byrd (Carol), Kimberly Garrick, and Danielle Byrd; his in-laws, Darlene McGrew, Gene McGrew (Kathy), and Patricia Marchbanks (Chuck); several nieces and nephews, including Candace Byrd, Zachary Pickle, Cameron Byrd (Trinity), Jared Miller, Stephanie Little (Chris), Mandy McGrew, and Matt McGrew (Stephanie); and his great nephew, Parker Byrd. Dale was also surrounded by many other relatives and close friends who will remember him fondly.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Pearlie Byrd; his grandparents, Early and Nancy Reed and Clifford and Agnes Byrd; his brother, Terrell Byrd; his mother-in-law, Catherine McGrew; his brother-in-law, Bob McGrew; and his nephews, Scott McGrew and Justin Byrd. These family members will be waiting to reunite with him in peace.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the 1:00 PM funeral service at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Orso and Bro. Ricky Turner officitating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Dale’s gentle spirit and godly faith have left an impressionable mark on those who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire and guide us all.
