Paul Wayne Byrd, loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 27, 2023, at Springhill Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 13, 1962. Paul will be remembered as a jokester with an infectious laughter that brightened up every room he walked into. He had a unique ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him and had a big heart that touched many lives. One of Paul's greatest passions in life was being the biggest Alabama football fan you would ever meet. He would proudly wear his team colors and cheer his heart out for the Crimson Tide during every game. Paul's enthusiasm was truly contagious and he had a way of making even the most casual sports fans get caught up in the excitement. When he wasn't passionately supporting his favorite team, Paul enjoyed playing cards and dominos with his loved ones. These games brought everyone together and created cherished memories filled with laughter and friendly competition. Above all else, Paul cherished spending time with his family and friends. His presence always brought warmth and positivity to any gathering. Another favorite pastime of Paul's included trips to the casino. He loved the thrill of playing games of chance and whether he hit the jackpot or not, what mattered most was the special time he spent with the people he cherished most.

Paul will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have been part of his life journey. He is survived by his children, Paul Byrd Jr., Heather Herrin, Christian Herrin (Daniel), and Jaxton Byrd; grandchildren, Layla, Kalie, Izabella, Isaiah, Dalton, and Serenity; his great-grandchild, Paxton; special friend, Lori Rivers; sister, Alice Madison (Joseph); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Jane Byrd, as well as his brother, David Dearman.
