Preshus La'Kaye Burton

Apr 28, 1990 — Aug 17, 2026

Preshus La'Kaye Burton, born on April 28, 1990, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. Her radiant presence and tremendous heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.

Preshus was a woman who embraced life with open arms. She was an avid reader, always eager to lose herself in the pages of a new story. Her artistic spirit shone through her love for coloring and drawing, activities she found both joyful and soothing. Spending time with family and friends was the highlight of her days, and she truly treasured every gathering, large or small.

Described by everyone who met her as someone who never turned a stranger away, Preshus embodied a spirit of warmth and generosity. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and was known for her heart of gold. These qualities made her presence a comfort and joy to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Among her proudest accomplishments were her beloved daughters, who were the light of her life. Preshus also took immense pride in her role as a big sister, always striving to support, guide, and uplift her siblings whenever they needed her.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Marie Escarcega and Rosalyn Olivia Sherrenea Escarcega; mother, Karen Burton; siblings, Richard Burton, Brooklyn Burton, Doug Sullivan (Breanna), Emma Burton, and McKenzi Burton; special sisters, Heather Alday (Brooks) and Nikki Davis (Steven); nieces and nephews, Skyler, Maddilyn, Avery Jade, Faithlynn, Collin and Colton; grandfather, Kesler Weaver, Sr. (Myrtle); aunts and uncles, Sherry Dean, Errol Reed (Jonnie), Nicky Reed (Charisma), Harmony Reed, Nicole Robinson (Eddie), Ricky Reed, Todd Reed, Edmond Reed, Kesler Weaver, Jr. (Shannon), Keary Weaver (Leia), Kristie Weaver, and Gary Weaver (Stacey); a multitude of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preshus is preceded in death by her father, Richard Burton; her grandfathers, Cleve Reed, Jack Burton, and Cecil Burton; and her grandmother, Carol Reed. Their memories, alongside hers, remain woven in the hearts of all who loved them.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Preshus’s life and honor her extraordinary legacy. A wake will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM at McKinley Pentecostal Church. The funeral service will take place the following day on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. She will be laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery.

While we grieve her loss, we also give thanks for the time we were gifted with Preshus—a leader, nurturer, artist, and dear friend whose selflessness and compassion touched many lives and whose memory will continue to inspire all she leaves behind.
