Regina Odom, affectionately known as Rena, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Citronelle, Alabama, at the age of 88. She was born on April 5, 1937, in Mobile, Alabama. Rena was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, whose grateful and warm personality touched the lives of many. Rena was the daughter of Eugene N. and Regina H. Long. She spent her early life in Mobile, Alabama. She was voted queen of the Stripers Mardi Gras organization at the age of 18.
Rena married James Odom on May 28, 1965, sharing 60 years together. She spent her entire life loving and caring for animals of all kinds. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was loved and will be missed.
Rena is survived by her husband, James Odom; daughters, Gina Hutto and Donna Nearing (Jeff Lane); sister, Lea Vaillancort (Rick); granddaughters, Margo Hutto and Margie Hutto; grandsons, Theron Lane (Isabella), Kyle Nearing (Corey), and Brock Nearing; great grandchildren, ReShawn Carter, LeBron Carter, Dreama Moore, and Jaxon Moore; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded by her sister, Vickie Cunningham.
A wake will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 PM funeral service with Rev. Marvin Robinson officiating. Burial will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery. After the graveside service, the family will share a meal together in the fellowship hall at Bethel Baptist Church.
Memorial flowers should be delivered to Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Live2Serve, Live.Love.Go or Bethel Baptist Missions.
