Richard Byrd

Richard Byrd, a native and resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020. He was 77 years old. Richard enjoyed fishing, going to church, and spending time with his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, James Franklin Byrd; mother, Emma Byrd; daughter, Darlene Byrd; mother of his children, Norma Jean Evans; brothers, Elsworth Byrd Sr., Fletcher Byrd, Leon Taylor, and Samuel Byrd; sisters, Alice Weaver and Sarah Douglas. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Richard Byrd Jr. (Misty), Willie Mae Davis (Leonard), and Randy Byrd; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Natalie Bruner, Edith Orso; brothers, Clyde Byrd and George Byrd; and a host of other family and friends. A wake will be held for Richard from 6pm until 9pm Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Hickory Grove Holiness Church. The funeral services will be held 11am Monday, August 31, 2020, at Hickory Grove Holiness Church with Rev. Robert Byrd, Rev. Daniel Davis, Rev. Clyde Byrd, and Rev. John Jenkins officiating.
