Richard Thomas Oakley, born on December 22, 1940, passed away on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Richard's early years were spent in Arkansas, where he graduated from Luxora Highschool. He continued his pursuit of knowledge at Arkansas State University, laying the foundation for a life characterized by perseverance and commitment to excellence.

Over the course of his career, Richard distinguished himself in the lumber building materials business. A true retail merchant expert, his work was not only a source of pride but also became a part of his family's journey. Richard and his beloved wife often traveled together for his work, and his professional responsibilities sometimes meant that the family would move to different places. Through it all, Richard remained enthusiastic and dedicated, cherishing the relationships and experiences that his career enabled him to cultivate.

Those closest to Richard fondly remember him as loving, outgoing, hardworking, and deeply family oriented. He was, above all else, a family man. One of his proudest accomplishments was simply being there for his loved ones—bringing the family together and ensuring that, no matter where they were, there was always a sense of unity and warmth.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Dana Langley (Barry) of Spanish Fort, AL and Stacy Thomas (Zach) of Vinegar Bend, AL; her grandchildren, Casey Taylor (Mike) of Panama City, FL, Barry Langley (Kelsey) of Moundville, AL, Jessica Langham (Blake) of Greensboro, AL, Brandon Thomas of Vinegar Bend, AL, Cody Thomas (Taylor) of Lucedale, MS and Victoria Simison (J.R.) of Vinegar Bend, AL; her great-grandchildren, Justice Taylor, Logan Taylor, Bowen Langham, Blakely Langham, Stratton Langley, Racen Thomas, Sawyer Thomas, Oakley Thomas, Ann Renee Simison and Madison Simison; sister, Shirley Stovall of Osceola, AR; lifelong friends, Ken and Florence Tuggle of Mobile, Alabama, and Leeann Miller of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Oakley; his parents, Benjamin and Gladys Oakley; and his siblings, Joe Oakley, Peggy Johnston, and Bendona Conrad.

Though his passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him, Richard's legacy is one of steadfast devotion, kindness, and unwavering support for his family. His memory will be cherished, and the invaluable lessons he imparted will continue to guide those who were privileged to have known him.

In loving memory of Richard Thomas Oakley—father, husband, and friend—his life will be celebrated for the love he gave and the difference he made.
