Richard Wesley Rivers

Richard Wesley Rivers, a beloved husband, brother, son, and friend, passed away at his home on June , 2024 He was known for his outgoing personality, bossy yet endearing nature, sensitivity to others, and his knack for bringing laughter into every room as a silly jokester.

Born on December 9, 1973, Richard lived a fulfilling life that revolved around his passion for cooking, shopping, interior decorating, long chats over the phone with his loved ones, and when he would FaceTime little Ellen. He took pride in maintaining close relationships and always made time for those he cared about.

Richard's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his cherished family and friends. He treasured moments spent with them and created lasting memories that will be cherished forever. 

He is survived by his loving husband, Kurtis Hicks Rivers; adoring sisters Sherry Travis and Renay Sumrall; supportive brothers Rayford Rivers, Jr. and Robin Earl Rivers; 12 nieces and nephews whom he adored; 3 great nieces who brought him immense joy; numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly; and his fur-baby, Bradley.

Richard was predeceased by his parents Rayford Rivers, Sr. and Vera Elleanor Jones, as well as his grandparents Gene and Doris Rivers. Their memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew Richard best.

A visitation to honor Richard's life will take place on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 12:00 PM until the 1:00 PM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Sister Rita Rivers officiating. 

Richard's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May we find solace in the wonderful memories we shared with him and carry forward the light he brought into our lives.

Rest in peace, Richard Wesley Rivers. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
