Robert Craig Davis, affectionately known as Bobby, Bob, and Popa, passed away on July 4, 2026, at USA Health Providence Hospital. He was born on February 9, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, and over the years became a cherished presence in the lives of many.
Bobby's remarkable journey is woven into the fabric of his community. As a second-generation auto body repairman, Bobby took great pride in carrying forward the legacy of his family through Davis Body Shop, which he owned and operated for over 30 years. Serving Citronelle and the surrounding areas, he developed many lifelong friendships through his dedication to quality work and sincere connections with customers and colleagues alike.
His accomplishments extended beyond his professional life. Fond memories abound of his high school days, where he excelled as a star football player. The stories and accolades from those years are still shared lovingly by his family, former classmates, teammates, and coaches—a testament to the lasting impact he made during that formative time. Bobby's passion for football and camaraderie left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him during those years.
Above all, Bobby was a devoted family man, surrounded by the warmth of those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Amy Jo Dueitt Davis; daughters, Chris Brannan (Robb) and Cheryl Johnson (Tre); sons, Craig Davis and Cain Davis (Lisbet); brothers, Royce Davis (Carol) and Charlie Davis (Beverly); sisters, Jo Ann Helveston (Lauren), Janice Davis, and Belinda Allums (Steve); grandchildren, Hannah James (Ryan), Sydney Edmonds, Misty Davis, Josh Robles, Andrew Davis, and Lucas Davis; and many other relatives and friends.
In remembering Bobby, we also pause to acknowledge those who preceded him in death: his parents, Vaudie Davis and Frances Davis Newberry; his son-in-law, Sid Edmonds, Jr.; and his dear friend, Sid Edmonds, Sr. Their memories are held close by all who knew and loved Bobby.
A gathering to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held during the Davis Family Reunion at the Great Escapes R.V. Resort in Leesburg, Alabama, on July 9, 2026, at 5:00 PM. This celebration promises to honor his legacy, his love for family, and the countless friendships he forged over a lifetime devoted to kindness and service.
Bobby's life stands as a tribute to hard work, generosity, and enduring love for family and friends. His legacy will live on in the memories, stories, and hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
