Robert A. Yow, affectionately known as "Bob," passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on January 4, 1930, in Racine, Wisconsin, Robert led a life characterized by dedication, faith, and service to others.
A proud veteran, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 14, 1949, and dedicated himself to his country for over two decades. He retired as a Master Sergeant on September 30, 1969. His military career was marked by a commitment to excellence, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and subordinates alike.
Professionally, Robert's legacy continued as he worked on jet aircraft and shared his extensive knowledge through the development and instruction of courses on aircraft engine repair and maintenance, as well as small arms marksmanship. He achieved the esteemed rating of master instructor, reflecting his deep understanding of the subject matter and his passion for teaching.
Beyond his career, Robert was a hardworking man who loved God, his family, his country, and his friends. He was an active member of Reed's Chapel Baptist Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. Robert was known for his hobbies and interests, which included being a lifetime member of the Camby Rifle and Gun Club, engaging in photography, and pursuing outdoor activities such as golfing and hunting. He was also a devoted sports fan, passionately supporting both Alabama football, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Green Bay Packers. Remarkably, Robert continued to take joy in mowing his lawn at the age of 95.
Robert's family reflects the love and values he instilled in those around him. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Fore of Burkburnett, TX; Theresa Gail Nelson of Auburn, WA; Robert A. Yow and Roger Yow both of Wichita Falls, TX; Gary W. Yow of Billings, MT; Paula Webster and Fred Yow both of Vancouver, WA; Charles Yow of Eldon, MS; and Carol Hughes of Juneau, AK. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM both at Reed's Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Oros officiating. Burial will follow in Reed's Chapel Cemetery. Robert A. Yow will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his unwavering love and devotion to his family and faith. He truly embodied the spirit of a caring and generous man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
