Roland Eugene Fortenberry

Roland Eugene Fortenberry, age 71, a resident of Saraland, Alabama, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Roland was born on November 15, 1950 to Eugene Foxworth Fortenberry and Evelyn (Hearn) Fortenberry in Mobile, Alabama.
Roland was a graduate of Murphy High School class of 1969. He worked in the roofing business for almost 40 years. To know Roland was to have a friend for life and anyone who knew him knew that he was a "hero to many", life of the party, and an avid fan of Alabama Football (Roll Tide) and Nascar. Roland never had a better weekend than spending Saturday in Tuscaloosa and Sunday in Talladega.
Most of all, he was a devoted friend and loving father and grandfather. Everyone lucky enough to know Roland was touched by his kindness, humor, and wit. He loved deeply and we take comfort knowing that Roland is now at peace.
Roland was predeceased by his father, Eugene Fortenberry, and his daughter, Laura Fortenberry.
Roland is survived by his fiancé, Faye Pettis of Mobile; mother, Evelyn Fortenberry of Wilmer; son, Jason Fortenberry and his wife Carolyn of West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; daughter Amy Caldwell and her husband Matt of Prattville, Alabama; sister Janet Cecchi and her husband David of Wilmer; four awesome grandsons, Nathan Fortenberry, Landon Caldwell, Dylan Caldwell, and Parker Caldwell; two amazing nieces Amanda (Mason) Hendricks and Rebecca (Cecchi) Midgette; along with numerous other relatives and an abundance of friends.
We will miss him more than words can say and will always remember the ways in which he touched our lives.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at Pine Crest Cemetery in Citronelle, Alabama.
