Roy Rogers Taylor

Roy Rogers Taylor, a resident of Mount Vernon, Alabama, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Springhill Medical Center.  He was 76 years old.  Roy was a devoted man to his family.  His greatest love was his wife of 56 years.  He was proud of his family he raised and loved them dearly.  In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish, especially with his grandchildren.  Roy was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Lee Taylor; father, Buffalo Taylor; brothers, Jerry Taylor (Betty) and Isaac Taylor; daughter, Canary Melinda Weaver; granddaughters, Misty Gertrude Weaver and Crystal Nicole Taylor.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Gertrude Canary Taylor; children, Tammy Taylor Cole (Joe), Wendy Weaver (Scottie), Kevin Byrd, Sr. (Elizabeth), and Kevin Byrd, Jr.; grandchildren, Scottie Weaver, Jr., Larissa Davis, Candis Smith, George Cole, Vernon Cole, Brock Weaver, Roy Sullivan, Kelsey Weaver, Kevelyn Byrd, Kaitlyn Byrd, Kennedy Wilkerson, and Nevaeh Byrd; special great-granddaughter, Mit-Mit Davis and ten other great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene A. Taylor and Hank Sullivan; brothers and sisters in law, Virgil Byrd (Agnes), Earl Byrd (Myra), Ed Byrd (Barbara), Robert Byrd, Dennis Byrd (Pam), Nancy Snow (Steve), and James Robert Byrd; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10am until the 12pm funeral service Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Shaw officiating.  Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
