Samuel Byrd

Samuel Byrd, age 91, a native and resident of Mount Vernon, AL, died Monday, March 21, 2016 at a local hospital. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Samuel was a retired electrician and member of Simple House of Praise Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Cleo Byrd; He is survived by seven children, Wayne (Elsie) Byrd, Lola (Frank) Melton, Annez (J.T.) Byrd, Eleanor (Ory) Davis, Beverly (Bruce) Goldman, Samuel Joe (Patricia) Byrd and Clarence (Rose Mary) Byrd; sixteen grandchildren (two deceased), four step-grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the 12:00 PM Funeral Service Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Simple House of Praise Church. Interment will be in Byrd Cemetery.
