Sarah Odom Turner, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Born on January 17, 1939, Sarah grew up in Citronelle, Alabama, with her parents Sharp and Lindy Odom. She was one of seven siblings and was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Odom and Otis Odom, as well as her sister, Ethel Mae Odom.
Sarah married the love of her life, Bernie Morris Turner, and together they built a life filled with love and happiness. Bernie's passing preceded Sarah's own death.
Throughout her life, Sarah found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her delicious meals that brought her family together at the dinner table. Her family especially cherished the moments spent enjoying her homemade meals during holidays and special occasions.
Sewing was another one of Sarah's talents; she spent countless hours meticulously creating beautiful garments for herself and loved ones. Her attention to detail and dedication to perfection made every piece she sewed truly special.
Aside from her hobbies in the kitchen and sewing room¸ Sarah enjoyed spending time watching TV shows or movies with her loved ones. She valued these moments of relaxation shared with family and friends.
Sarah's unwavering faith defined her character; she was an active member of her local church community. She found solace in attending services regularly and embraced the teachings of love and compassion taught there.
She will be deeply missed by all those who had the honor of knowing her. Sarah is survived by her children Kenneth David Turner, Steven Boyd Turner, and Paula; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings Roland Odom, Helen Faye Odom, Mike Odom; other relatives; and friends.
Visitation services will be held at Freeman Funeral Home on January 11, 2024. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM.
Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Deer Park Cemetery in Deer Park, Alabama with Bro. Barton Turner officiating. The service will commence at 11:30 AM and is a chance for friends and family to say their final goodbyes.
In memory of Sarah Odom Turner, her loved ones kindly request that donations be made to her beloved church in lieu of flowers. It is a testament to her faith and enduring love for the community she cherished.
Sarah's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
