It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sidney Alden Hobbs, a beloved young man who touched the lives of many during his time on this earth. Born on March 24, 2008, Sid demonstrated a bright spirit and a loving nature that endeared him to family and friends alike. He departed this life on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy filled with kindness and love.
Sid was a proud graduate of Fruitdale High School, where he excelled as a three-sport athlete and earned notable recognition for his athletic abilities. He was honored as an all-county player in both baseball and basketball, showcasing his dedication and talent in sports. His accomplishments were further highlighted by receiving the prestigious ASWA Jimmy Smothers Award in 2025, a testament to his hard work and commitment.
In addition to his athletic prowess, Sidney had a genuine passion for life. He enjoyed playing all sports, with a particular fondness for baseball and golf, and often found joy in hunting and fishing. His enthusiasm for Alabama football and the Miami Dolphins was well-known among his friends and family. However, it was the quality time spent with loved ones that brought him the greatest happiness.
Sid's heart was full of love for others and his faith in Jesus was evident in his kindhearted demeanor. Sid was a lifelong member of Living Word Church and an active member of his youth group. He embraced every moment, whether it was cheering for his favorite sports teams or embarking on memorable adventures, such as the SidStrong MLB Ballpark Tour, where he ventured to all 30 baseball stadiums across the country.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Elizabeth Hobbs; his siblings, Haiden Hobbs, John Marc Hobbs, Hadley Hobbs, and Haven Hobbs; as well as his cherished grandparents, Marc and Karen Hobbs. Sidney also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
A celebration of Sid's life will be held at Living Word Church in Citronelle, Alabama. The wake will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Marc Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Citronelle Methodist Cemetery.
Sidney Alden Hobbs may have departed this earthly realm, but the love he shared and the joy he brought to those around him will continue to resonate in the hearts of many. He will be deeply missed and remembered fondly for his vibrant spirit and the countless memories that he created throughout his all-too-brief life.
