Travis Nathan Johnston, a resident of Fairford, Alabama, passed away June 07, 2020. He was 77 years old. Nathan was born March 13, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama. He was an insulator at Olin Corp. and worked at Brown & Root. Nathan served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War and received The Purple Heart. Nathan was a devoted member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and Choir Director. He sat in his recliner and when he wasn’t napping, he was studying his Bible and Sunday School lesson. Nathan served on the Fairford VFD and MOWA Choctaw Housing Authority. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Trave and Gertrude Johnston, brothers, Paul and Norman, sisters, Betty and Ann, and son, Travis Lee. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Sue Chestang Johnston; children, Felicia Myers (Eddie), Tim Johnston (Tori), and Kevin Johnston (Lizzie); six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Grace Orso and Mary McAdams (James); and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held from 6pm until 9pm Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Rev.
