Viney Jeanette Knapp, resident of Friendswood, Texas born and raised in McIntosh, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 1st, 2025. Born February 16, 1949, she was 76 yeas old. Jeanette was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jeanette was an avid member of the Reeds Chapel Baptist Church. In her younger years, Jeanette enjoyed playing basketball (she was an allstate basketball player), Bible studying, and helping raise her younger siblings. Jeanette graduated college at Wayland Baptist in West Texas with bachelor's in Chemistry, where she played colleigate basketball. She worked as a chemist at Lyondell for 30 years, successfully obtaining the title of lab supervisor all while fighting for woman's equal rights in the field. Viney was a proud member of the MOWA Band of Choctaw Indians, who enjoyed supporting her tribe and people of her community. In her free time she enjoyed Traveling, going on cruises, shopping, participating in church activities, picking blueberries, doing crosswords, cooking, and spending time with family.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her son James Thomas Moore; her parents Leon "Black Cloud" Taylor and Ella Louis Taylor; her siblings Dorthy Martin, Priscilla Lewis, Naomi Byrd, and Raymond Taylor. Left to cherish her memory, are her partner George Knapp; children Shannon Lee Knapp and Brent Douglas Knapp (Patricia); grandchildren, Joanna Melendez (Kristina), Dre Knapp, Jacob Knapp, Austin Knapp, Gracie Knapp, Kailyn Knapp, and Baylor Knapp; great grandchild, Nairobi Rodriguez, and Jack Yepez; siblings, Gene Taylor (Birtlee), Wilford Taylor (Mary), Alfred Taylor, Winnie Kim (Jong), Leon Taylor, Elizabeth Daniel (Clif) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The immediate family is welcoming friends and family to come celebrate the life of Jeanette on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM Brother Ricky will be officiating. Burial will follow at Reeds Chapel Cemetary.
