Wanda Faye Weaver, lovingly known as “Red,” passed away on October 28, 2026, on her Annual Sibling Cruise. She passed away on the cruise ship, doing what she loved with the people she loved. She was born on January 27, 1959, in Mobile, Alabama.
Wanda was remembered as bold, fierce, happy, loving, funny, and kind-hearted. Her presence brought warmth and strength to those around her, and she lived with a spirit that was both vibrant and deeply devoted to the people she cherished most. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved spending time with them.
She loved working for the union and enjoyed serving as a nightwatchman. In her life away from work, Wanda found happiness in simple pleasures and shared experiences. She enjoyed going to the casino, attending her grandson’s football game in Nashville, Tennessee, and taking her yearly Sibling Cruise, a tradition that reflected how much she treasured time with her brothers and sisters.
Above all, Wanda’s life was centered on love for her family. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roger Weaver. She also leaves behind her children, Jimmy Dean Weaver (Monica), Tammy Michelle Curtis, Gene Alan Weaver (Lori), Jennifer Lynn Sherwood, and Brandon Scott Weaver (Daleigh). She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sisters and brother, Brenda Sue Sasser, Phill Perrel Johnston III (Becky), Allie Lavern Paul (Darryl), and Ella Mae Naselroad (Kenny). Each of them shared in the love, laughter, and strength that Wanda gave so freely throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Phil Johnston; her mother, Juanita Johnston; her brother, Randy Lamar Byrd; her brother-in-law, Karl J. Sasser; her grandson, Silas Michael Sherwood; and great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Brook Weaver.
The family will reveive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Forister officiating. Burial will follow at Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Wanda will be remembered for her fearless spirit, her humor, her loving heart, and the joy she found in being surrounded by family. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
