William Keith Lofton, Sr., a cherished father and devoted husband, passed away peacefully at his home on February 16, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on July 23, 1965, William exemplified a hardworking spirit throughout his life, dedicating 29 years to a successful career at Kimberly-Clark before retiring.
William was a man of many interests, finding joy in the great outdoors through hunting, fishing, gardening, and outdoor cooking. His passion for sports was evident in his unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys and Alabama football.
Above all, William took immense pride in his family, emphasizing their importance in his life. His legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 38 years, Christine Lofton, and their six children: Trish Byrd (James Jr.), Ashley Forister (Shane), Jamee Lofton, Valerie Schaffer (Jack), Tyler Everett, and Bryant Lofton. He was a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Nolan, Oliver, Jazmine, Jude, Jocie, Jenna, and Everleigh. The bonds he nurtured with his family were his proudest accomplishments, and he will be remembered for the love and laughter he brought into their lives.
William is also survived by his siblings: Martha Evans, Agnes Byrd (Virgil), Hiram Lofton, Otis Lofton, David Lofton, Sylvia Byrd, Sarah Hopkins (Alex Jr.), and Frank Schaffer (Gwen). He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Hope Byrd and Becky Everett, as well as his aunts, Rosie Byrd and Levert Lofton (Bill), and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
William was preceded in death by his son, Willie Jr.; his father, Otis Lofton; his mother, Sophia Lofton; his sister, Connie Lofton; three brothers-in-law; two great nephews; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
A Rosary will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home starting at 5:30 PM, followed by a wake from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A visitation will take place on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM at Saint Theresa Catholic Church with Father Victor Ingalls and Father John Coghlan as celebrants. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.
William Keith Lofton, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and commitment to family that will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished forever.
